Houston has an unusually broad food-service market, but the packaging enquiries cluster around one specification more than any other: wet, heavy service. Seafood boils, crawfish, Viet-Cajun cooking and barbecue all put hot liquid and real weight into a board tray at the same time.
That is the hardest combination there is for fluted board, and it is worth being explicit about what it requires.
Tell us the tray, the quantity and where it is going. Freight is quoted to your address rather than added later.
Fluted board wicks liquid along its flutes faster than it soaks through the liner, and heat accelerates it sharply. A boil tray is dealing with hot water, oil, seasoning and several pounds of shellfish simultaneously — and it is often carried to a communal table by one person.
A tray specified for that needs a genuine moisture barrier on the food-contact face, not a grease-resistant treatment, and a board grade with real margin. If you have had trays soften during a service, the barrier is almost certainly what was missing.
Fluted board with a grease-resistant face, sized for a plate with sides, with reinforced hand holes if customers carry loaded trays.
A substantial market. Lidded trays sized to covers, with enough lid overlap that nothing lifts in a van.
Compartment formats that keep several distinct elements separate in one container.
Gulf humidity and heat both work stored board. Keep it in cartons in the coolest dry space available.
Chosen against the requirements described above, not as a general catalogue listing.

Corrugated trays exist for one reason: a loaded tray that has to be picked up from the middle without folding in half.

A properly specified one handles a normal service period. Tell us how long a table typically takes over a boil — that duration is a specification input, and boil service runs longer than most food service.
For a short display with a barrier, yes. For hours, melting ice becomes standing water, which is the hardest condition for board. Tell us the duration and we will specify honestly.
For the table rather than the person. Serve a typical shared portion spread rather than piled, and measure the area it covers. That is your internal footprint.
Yes. Heat and humidity together take stiffness out of board that has never been near food. Keep stock in its cartons in the coolest, driest space available and rotate it.
Yes. The specification points are the same everywhere — lid overlap, base rigidity and depth from the tallest garnish — but the market here is large enough that branded packaging pays back quickly.
