Kraft Food Trays

Kraft Taco Holders and Taco Trays

  • Holds 2–4 tacos upright
  • Soft or hard shell slots
  • Flat-packs for storage

A taco holder does one thing: it stops tacos falling over. Everything else about the format follows from that single mechanical job, and the difference between a good holder and a bad one is entirely in the slot width.

  • Slot width cut to your shell — soft and hard need different clearances
  • Two, three, four and five-slot versions
  • Ships flat, folds up in seconds
  • Front panel prints well for street-food branding

Pricing starts from $0.30 per tray

The unit price depends on the size, board, printing, finishing, quantity and delivery country, so every quote is worked out for your specification rather than taken from a list.

02 — Build the spec

Design this tray in five steps

The same five questions we would ask on a phone call, with the kraft taco holder already selected. You get a properly detailed brief at the end, which is what makes a first quote accurate rather than approximate.

Step 1 The tray and the food

Pick the closest style. If nothing matches, choose “Something else” and describe it at step 5.

Step 2 Size and material

Internal measurements at the base if you have them. Approximate is fine — a physical sample is better still.

Step 3 Structure, lid and print

Compartments keep a wet element off a dry one. Fewer print colours than you think: one well-drawn ink on kraft usually beats a mediocre four-colour design.

Step 4 Quantity and artwork

Give your realistic annual usage if you can — the unit cost curve tells you more than a single quantity does.

PDF, AI, EPS, PSD, JPG, PNG or ZIP. Up to 12 MB. A rough sketch is genuinely useful; we supply a dieline before your designer starts.

03 — In detail

Soft shell and hard shell are different products

A hard shell is rigid and roughly consistent in width, so the slot can be cut close and the shell will stand up on its own. A soft shell is floppy and the filling determines the width, so it needs a wider slot and it relies on being packed against its neighbour to stay upright.

A holder cut for hard shells will crush a soft taco. A holder cut for soft shells will let a hard one rattle and tip. If you serve both, the honest answer is either two holders or a compromise slot that is slightly loose for hard shells — and we will tell you which we think is right for your menu once we know the split.

Capacity and what each is for

SlotsTypical useNote
2Snack portion, side order, kids servingSmall footprint, easy to carry with a drink
3Standard single serving in most taqueriasThe most commonly ordered format
4Generous serving or a shared starterStarts to need two hands when loaded
5Sharing platter, event serviceUsually needs a wider board grade to stay rigid

Things worth specifying

Slot depth

Deep enough that the shell is supported below the filling line, or the taco tips forward the moment it is picked up.

Base width

The holder itself has to be stable on a counter. A narrow base with tall tacos is top-heavy and will go over.

Grease resistance

Wet fillings run down the shell and pool at the base of the slot. If your fillings are saucy, specify a treated face.

A flat area for print

The front skirt is the panel a customer sees. Ask for enough height on it to carry a legible mark.

05 — Questions

Kraft Taco Holder questions

Will one holder fit both soft and hard shell tacos?

It can, but it is a compromise. A slot cut for a soft shell is loose for a hard one, and one cut for a hard shell will squash a soft taco. If both are core menu items, two holders is usually the better answer.

How many tacos should a holder take?

Three is the standard single serving in most taquerias. Two suits a side or a child portion, four and five suit sharing. Look at your most-ordered combination and build the standard holder around that.

Do taco holders arrive flat?

Yes. They fold up by hand in a few seconds, which keeps freight and storage sensible — a box of flat holders takes a fraction of the space assembled ones would.

Can the holder sit inside a larger tray?

Yes, and it is a good combination for a meal deal: a holder with three tacos sitting in a wider tray alongside rice, beans or chips. Tell us the outer tray dimensions and we will size the holder to drop into it.

Will sauce leak through the bottom of the slot?

On untreated board, a saucy filling will eventually darken and soften the base of the slot. A grease-resistant face handles a normal service. For very wet fillings, mention it and we will specify accordingly.

How much can I print on a taco holder?

The front skirt is the main panel and it is usually about an inch to an inch and a half tall. That is enough for a logo and a short line. The side panels take a repeat pattern well.

Are they stable enough for a food truck window?

With a wide enough base, yes. If your service involves handing a loaded holder through a window to somebody standing on uneven ground, tell us — we will widen the base rather than optimising for the smallest footprint.

What is the minimum order?

A taco holder needs its own cutting die for the slot layout, so the first order carries that. The unit cost drops quickly with volume. Ask for pricing at a trial quantity and at your expected annual usage and the trade-off becomes clear.

Can you match the holder I already use?

Yes. Send one in the post, or photograph it flat and folded with a ruler in shot. We can rebuild the blank from a folded sample.
